Most Americans are potassium-deficient. A healthy person would need to eat roughly 700–800 bananas in one day to reach a dangerous potassium level; even 400 bananas would only begin to pose a risk, and your stomach would rebel long before. Still, people on beta-blockers should watch potassium, and diabetics may wish to limit bananas because of their moderate glycemic index. For most, though, two bananas a day is a smart, tasty habit.
