In a thick woodland a heavy flanked wild sow rooted for bulbs, fruit, and tender shoots, fueling the litter she would soon cradle. She fashioned a grass and leaf lined nest, a warm earthen cradle muffling outside noise. One by one slick piglets emerged and she cleaned and nudged them toward comfort. Guided by instinct she later led them along safe foraging paths, their rising energy and bright squeals echoing the forest’s abundance and continuity.
